Rugby star launches letting agency for landlords

Welsh rugby star Gareth Davies is trying his hand at a career in lettings as he considers life after playing for the national team.

Davies (main picture), who became the leading try-scoring scrumhalf in Rugy World Cup history last year, told Wales Online that he still had a few years in rugby before hanging up his boots.

He is behind the start-up lettings and sales agency - Blackbear Property - in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, which opened its first office in Quay Street, announcing, “a fresh take on the traditional estate agency”.

Think ahead

“Blackbear represents a very exciting opportunity for me,” Davies adds. “I have a good few years left on the pitch yet but if professional sport has taught me one thing, it is never too early to think ahead.

“I intend to be involved in my family business which involves Cawdor Cars and Davies Developments. So along with Blackbear I am very excited about what the future holds post-rugby.”

The agency will bring together the directors of Gellifawr - Davies and Jamie Barnett - and Barnett adds: “Our branding really has cut through well and with several properties already lined up for our full launch next week, we are confident that Blackbear Property will be around for a very long time to come.”

Pembrokeshire MP Stephen Crabb attended the launch event alongside Davies’ fellow Scarlets’ team-mate Josh Macleod. The Quay Street office opens on Monday.
