Agents and student landlords are top of the class in Bath

bath letting agents rated

University students rate Bath as having the best letting agents in the UK based on the number of reviews and average ratings.

A Uswitch.com poll of 2,000 renting students reveals that the city gives them the best experience, with letting agencies receiving an average rating of 4.45 out of 5 across 3,687 reviews. More than half of these students (52%) believe that if approached about the current cost-of-living crisis, their landlord would support them.

Popular place

Plymouth is the next most popular place, with an average rating of 4.45 from 2,962 reviews. More than two-thirds (68%) of students say their monthly payments are reasonable for the quality of property they rent, and 71% would recommend it to another student.

Letting agencies in Bristol have an average rating of 4.44 based on 7,117 reviews, where two-thirds (66%) would recommend their current home. Sheffield and Exeter are next with scores of 4.41, while at the bottom of the pile are Leicester (4.06) and Tower Hamlets (4.02).

Good qualities

Uswitch.com’s poll found 32% of students say honesty and communication is the quality they look for in a landlord, and 16% claim a letting agency with a bad reputation would prevent them from moving into new housing.

Its BTL mortgages expert, Kellie Steed, says: “Ultimately, a good landlord/letting agency plays a crucial role in creating a positive living experience for students. By providing a comfortable, safe, and supportive living environment, they enable students to focus on their studies and make the most of their academic journey.”
