Accreditation Schemes for Landlords
Landlord Accreditation Schemes in the Private Rented Sector (PRS) was originally an initiative started by educational institutions for the benefit of their students.
It’s success as a voluntary means of regulating accommodation for students has prompted many UK local authorities to take-up the idea for all their private sector landlords.
The schemes are based on a set of operating standards that participating landlords voluntarily comply with to achieve a form of quality service provider status.
Where legislation has largely failed to universally improve standards in the lettings industry, accreditation schemes are beginning to make an impact.
