Tenants dig deep to raise funds for major homelessness charity

centerpoint total property

mydeposits’ Total Property platform has raised a staggering £300,000 for youth homelessness charity Centrepoint since its launch last May.

The cash has come from tenants whose deposits protected under mydeposits’ custodial scheme earn interest after 182 days. This can then be donated to Centrepoint or when closing their account via their online portal.

mydeposits staff have also joined fundraising and volunteering activities, including being a Silver Sponsor of Sleep Out 2024, taking part in the Sleep Out challenge, decorating Centrepoint accommodation for Christmas, and competing in fundraising quizzes.

Funds raised will help Centrepoint deliver vital support to young people facing homelessness. Shockingly, a young person becomes homeless in the UK every four minutes, often due to family or relationship breakdown, domestic abuse, mental health challenges, or difficult transitions such as leaving care or the end of a tenancy.

Tenants' generosity

Reaching the milestone donation is a proud moment for everyone involved, says Tim Frome (pictured), head of government schemes at mydeposits.

“It’s a testament to the generosity of our tenants and the dedication of our team,” he adds.

“The Total Property platform has been instrumental in making tenant donations possible, and we are excited to continue growing this partnership with Centrepoint to make a lasting difference for young people.”

Centrepoint’s head of relationship fundraising, Michael Winehouse, says he’s extremely grateful to colleagues and tenants who have taken the time to donate and fundraise.

“Their generosity helps us provide essential support to young people when they need it most and brings us closer to our goal of ending youth homelessness by 2037,” says Winehouse.

Landlords and agents will be encouraged to help further donations and increase volunteering opportunities throughout 2025. To learn more or donate, visit Centrepoint’s donation page: centrepoint.org.uk/support-us/donate.
