Landlord Action founder Paul Shamplina will share practical advice on managing tenancies, staying compliant and protecting rental income at a free landlord event hosted by Thanet District Council later this month.

Landlords and managing agents can attend the annual event which this year also features presentations from Thanet Landlords’ Focus Group chair, David Votta. Partner agencies, including the Department for Work and Pensions, Kent Police and Thanet Community Safety team and local letting agents, will be there on the day.

Attendees are invited to submit questions in advance for a Q&A session with panel members. There will also be the chance to network with fellow professionals and engage with speakers.

Officers

Officers from the council’s Housing Options, Private Sector Housing, and Home Energy teams will provide guidance on available support such as grants to improve home energy efficiency, fee-free tenant placement, assistance with empty properties, and help to prevent evictions.

Paul Shamplina will cover how to manage tenancies effectively, legal and regulatory compliance, and how to reduce risk and protect rental income, as well as how to use the right tools and resources to make property management more efficient. He promises real-world landlord experience using practical examples rather than purely theoretical property-investment advice.

Councillor Helen Whitehead, cabinet member for housing, says the authority has run this event for more than ten years, with the specific aim of building and maintaining strong relationships with local landlords. “It provides an opportunity to discuss shared challenges and to offer resources and support, and for us to work together to meet the needs of residents,” she adds.

The event is on Friday 18 September at the Queens Road Baptist Church, Broadstairs. Doors open at 12.30pm. The online booking form needs to be completed by Friday 11 September.
