TV star signs up to back rent guarantor firm ahead of reforms

rob rinder

Barrister and TV personality Rob Rinder (main image) has got behind RentGuarantor as the firm’s new brand ambassador.

The provider of rent guarantee services to prospective tenants has announced the partnership to support its goal to drive consumer and landlord education and awareness around the role of guarantors in the private rented sector.

RentGuarantor anticipates that demand for its service will expand as the sector grows, underpinned by changes expected in the Renters’ Rights Bill.

CEO Paul Foy (pictured) says Rinder’s public profile, paired with his extensive legal knowledge and social commentary, especially on issues relating to housing, will be a great support as it continues to drive discussion about professional rent guarantor services and the benefits for tenants and landlords.

“We believe that professional guarantors should be a fundamental part of the tenancy toolkit, especially in light of the proposed Renters’ Rights Bill, which we believe will be the most significant revision of the regulation surrounding renting properties in almost 50 years, and the unpredictability associated with regulatory reform on this scale,” says Foy.

Shake-up

Rinder adds that with the rental landscape expected to undergo its biggest shake-up in nearly half a century, it’s crucial that tenants have access to the right information and solutions to help them secure a rental home that meets their needs.

“A professional guarantor is a risk-managed option that unlocks tenancies for thousands of renters who might not have met the required criteria otherwise, while also protecting a landlord’s investment,” he says. “My background has given me first-hand insight into the complexities of the rental industry, and I look forward to working with RentGuarantor to help many more people.”

More competition

Fellow TV star Paul Shamplina (pictured), who is due to appear in a new TV show similar to Rinder's, says: ""The reality for tenants now is that it’s harder to win properties with more competition from other tenant particularly as rents continue to rise.

"Landlords will be more stringent on referencing, especially when section 21 goes, along with the threat of longer court delays and rising rent arrears.

"Consequently, landlords will look for solutions that protect them from these risks. So, having a product like RentGuarantor is a great alternative, especially if a tenant can’t find a home owner such as a relative or friend to be one."
