Property investors have a chance to hear from several key figures from the private rented sector who will be discussing in detail the controversial Renters’ Rights Bill, which is expected to become law in October or November this year.

The legislation will fundamentally change how landlords and property managers handle both tenancies and tenants and significantly swing the balance of power towards renters.

Consequently Simon Zutshi (main image, inset), founder of the property investors network (pin) is holding a national online event on August 6th that he promises will offer those attending a “lively debate on the upcoming Renters’ Rights Bill and what this means for you in the marketplace and your property investing”.

As well as Zutshi, who is one of the UK’s best-known property investment gurus, the event will feature Landlord Action’s Paul Shamplina (main image, left)) as well as Dawn Bennett (right), Compliance and Operations Director at Concentric Property.

Renting issues

Issues that are likely to be discussed including the Bill’s ban on ‘rent in advanceand Section 21 ‘no fault’ evictions, which are the two most concerning areas of change for many investors and landlords, as well as its huge changes to tenancy contracts, the way properties are advertised for rent and landlords’ acceptance of pets.

The Bill as it currently stands also establishes a national database of privately rented properties in England for the first time, and also an ombudsman to handle complaints by tenants about their landlord.

The event costs £20 to attend virtually and anyone signing up before August 3rd at 6pm will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win a £2,000 mentoring sessions with Zutshi.

The online event will take places between 6pm and 9pm on the 6th August. When booking online, use the voucher code ‘shamplina’ .
