A landlord evicted three sex workers from a buy to let brothel after shocked neighbours tipped off the police about their activities.
A flow of noisy visitors to the two-bedroom flat in Archway, Highgate, North London, alerted neighbours to the brothel.
Police were called and raided the flat, finding a diary logging a succession of customers and how long their sex sessions lasted.
No one was arrested and the brothel manager and two prostitutes left the property after the landlord started eviction proceedings.
“The landlord was not involved and had no idea what was happening,” said a Metropolitan Police spokesman.
“But the incident highlights the need for landlords to keep a close eye on what is happening at their property.”
Tenant wrote on wall in blood
An angry tenant wrote a message in his own blood on a wall to a buy to let landlord after a row about boiler repairs and illegal immigrants.
York magistrates heard Akif Altun, 29, felt his disagreement with the landlord began when he tipped off police about illegal immigrants working in restaurants managed by the landlord.
Altun was fined £400 and ordered to pay £105 costs after admitting sending nuisance text messages and criminal damage offences.
The messages and the damage occurred after problems with a gas boiler in the rented home. When the problem was not instantly repaired, Altun retaliated by sending abusive text messages and with the tip-off.
HMO landlord fined
House in multiple occupation (HMO) landlord was fined £1,500 and ordered to pay £950 costs for running the house in a poor state and without a licence.
Asim Ali, of Oxford, admitted the offences to magistrates.
The court was told he failed to maintain the shared parts of the home, did not display required fire safety and emergency contact notices, that the stairs had no banisters and lighting was poor.
