At the start of each year ByeMould eagerly awaits new products that dehumidifier companies have said that they’ll release that year.

2016 has started, not just with a bang, but with a massive boom as Meaco released the Meaco DD8L Zambezi desiccant dehumidifier during January.

Make no mistake about it, the Meaco Zambezi is probably the worlds most advanced and intelligent desiccant dehumidifier as the unit contains 6 features not seen on dehumidifiers previously.

This article will discuss the 6 benchmark features so that you can get a snap-shot of the Zambezi’s fantastic qualities.

Anti-Virus and Anti-Bacterial Ioniser

The placement of ionisers on dehumidifiers is not new however the Meaco Zambezi ioniser is many times more effective than previous ionisers.

A typical ioniser has a reach of around 1 metre and focuses on the elimination of dust. The new Meaco Zambezi ioniser has a reach of up to 10 metres and is able to eliminate dust, bacteria, viruses, odours, mould, spores, germs and much more.

The ioniser throws out a combination of hydrogen and oxygen ions that results in a much cleaner air than your standard ioniser. The result is better breathability, lower stress levels and increased relaxation.

Daily On/Off Run Timer

The problem with using a dehumidifier on a timer is that life span of the unit can decrease significantly as you are effectively subjecting the dehumidifier to a power cut.

The Meaco Zambezi has overcome this problem by inserting a clock in the LED display panel. The clock allows you to set the dehumidifier to come ‘on’ and ‘off’ safely at the same time each day. You need to set the timer only once and the Zambezi will remember the settings going forward.

The Zambezi timer also has an ‘on’ function allowing light sleepers to set the dehumidifier to come on after they have fallen asleep.

Digital Display and Variable Humidistat

At ByeMould we have always wondered by more dehumidifiers don’t come with a LED display panel as often dehumidifier buyers will have to buy a hygrometer separately to get an accurate relative humidity reading.

The Meaco Zambezi has set a benchmark for digital display capabilities. The control panel is set up is based on the same design as a TV remote control with all the settings being shown on the digital display.

These settings include the adjustable louvre settings, the timer settings, the ioniser setting as well as the fan speed and humidity settings.

Not only that but the digital display also shows the current relative humidity and temperature which is ideal as you can see exactly how the dehumidifier is working.

Energy-Saving Control Logic

Meaco’s Control Logic functionality is superior to that of the competition.

Like all dehumidifiers Meaco dehumidifiers bring the humidity down to pre-set levels however while ordinary dehumidifiers with energy-saving features then toggle to ‘fan-only’ mode the Meaco Control Logic function places the dehumidifier into ‘sleep’ mode.

This means that the fan stops running for 30 minutes after which the fan will run for 5 minutes while the dehumidifier samples the air. If the humidity level has stayed the same then the dehumidifier will go back into sleep mode for another 30 minutes.

If the humidity level has risen then the dehumidifier will toggle into the most appropriate mode to bring the humidity back down to the pre-set level.

Meaco Control 20+

The Meaco Control 20+ is a great facility for those who run dehumidifiers in somewhat remote locations such as boats, caravans, sheds and garages etc.

What happens in these circumstances is that you set a fan speed and humidity level and run the dehumidifier with the continuous drainage function so that the water tank empties automatically.

Typically the fan speed chosen will be a low one in order to conserve energy. But what happens if you have chosen the wrong fan speed?

The Meaco Control 20+ function will change the fan speed if the humidity rises by more than 20%. Once the humidity level has been bought down the unit toggles back into the original setting. This way you get the perfect combination of effectiveness and energy-savings.

High Humidity Turn Me On

When the Zambezi is plugged into the wall socket but turned off the unit will still sense the air.

If the humidity level rises to high levels (70%) a light will alert you so that you know when to turn the dehumidifier on.

Other Great Features

The Meaco DD8L Zambezi desiccant dehumidifier contains a host of other great features such as:

  • Child lock
  • Super condenser for greater absorption
  • Anti-mould coating on water tank
  • Patented anti-blockage system
  • Anti-bacterial air filter
  • Many more

We consider the Meaco DD8L Zambezi as the new benchmark in dehumidifiers so if you are in the market for a dehumidifier you should check it out.
