Free Wallchart for Members explains HIP process
Visual guide simplifies process for Estate Agents

London : Friday, 11th May 2007 — Hipag Services, a leading supplier of Home Information Packs to independent estate agents and solicitors, has published a visual Guide to HIPs – a colourful wallchart designed to explain at-a-glance the HIP process for Estate Agents and their clients.

The Hipag Guide to HIPs has been carefully designed to illustrate every step in the process of creating the HIP that will be legally required for most residential property sales from 1 June 2007. In easy-to-follow wallchart format, the Hipag Guide is designed to act as a source of instant reference and clarification for both estate agent and their clients.

Says Hipag CEO Rob Hailstone, ‘An important part of our role at Hipag is making sure that our members have a full understanding of the impending HIP legislation and how it will affect their business practices not just in general but in detail. Our new visual guide is the result of many hours of careful analysis and development by the Hipag team and visual process mapping experts to make that detail intelligible and accessible to everyone in the property industry.’

‘Working closely with the analytics and visualisation team at Fintecs we have put all the important steps in our HIP production process under the microscope to determine that our Hipag process and back office Hub systems not only meet legislative requirements in every detail but are robust and fully scalable to meet our customers’ demands.’

Rob Berry, Associate Sales Director at Estate Agency, Breeze Group says, ‘The Hipag wallchart is a fantastic sales tool. For us to be able to use it to explain to the vendor how the HIP process will work, and show them exactly who will be doing what and when to get their home sold, is going to be a tremendous help to my marketing process.’

The Hipag Guide to HIPs was developed using the latest visual process mapping techniques by specialist consultancy Fintecs. Says Fintecs managing director Tony Gratton, ‘We are used to presenting visually the complexities of business processes from IT systems to Government regulations, but Home Information Packs was a tough nut to crack because they are so complex and involve many separate interactions.’

The Hipag Guide to HIPs is available free of charge to members of Hipag. Copies can be ordered by simply e-mailing or phoning 0845 375 2890.

About Hipag Services Ltd.

Hipag Services Ltd ( has been formed to assist independent estate agents and high street solicitor practices in England and Wales produce HIPs quickly and efficiently. Hipag currently has over 3,000 registered members, from Cornwall to Cumbria, who it will work in co-operation with Hipag to produce HIPs rapidly, enabling property sales to proceed without delay.

Hipag’s membership includes independent estate agents, high street solicitors , home inspectors and domestic energy assessors who will prepare the Home Condition Reports and the Energy Performance Certificate.

Hipag Services has the financial backing of the OyezStraker Group, the UK’s leading independent office products and business services company with 1,500 staff and £160m turnover.

Hipag Services believes its HIP will deliver more benefits to others for two main reasons. Firstly, because it will provide to the seller and the estate agent a HIP quickly that complies with legislation so that the property can be marketed without delay. Secondly, by working with its accredited member firms it will ensure the HIP becomes comprehensive while the property is being marketed, and not after a buyer has been found, thereby providing a smoother, less stressful transaction and a quicker exchange of contracts.

Hipag can achieve these goals because its members — solicitors, estate agents and home inspectors – will be local to the property being sold and will be working closely together. Their local knowledge and easy accessibility will make it easier for the property seller to meet and discuss potential problems with the professionals who will be working for them.

This local approach contrasts with that of many large HIP providers who plan to offer a service based on large centralised “call centre-style HIP factories to prepare packs.
