Landlords can join a free webinar that aims to help prevent them from falling foul of the upcoming Renters’ Rights Bill.
Tenant and landlord specialist solicitor Tessa Shepperson (main image) is running the online training session to explain the changes introduced by the bill and how landlords should prepare, in order to comply.
Shepperson, who has run Landlord Law, the information service for landlords, for more than 20 years, warns that local authorities’ enforcement powers will increase considerably under the bill, along with the penalty fines they can impose for non-compliance, so landlords need to be ready for the changes.
“Normally, these webinars are only available to my Landlord Law members,” she tells LandlordZONE, “but I decided to open this webinar up to non-members as I am concerned that many landlords are unaware of the new rules being brought in by the bill and who could be at risk of serious fines.”
She adds: “It looks as if the bill could be made law by the summer, so now is a good time for landlords to prepare for the new rules coming in. It’s essential that they know what is coming down the line, so they don’t get caught out.”
The webinar - Achieving compliance with the Renters’ Rights Bill, will cover the problem with enforcement, preliminary steps, keeping records and ensuring compliance. It runs from 10.30am until 12pm on 22nd May - book your place here.
