Letting agent hosts specialist seminar for landlords

There can be no doubt that the dramatic increase in house prices over the years has benefited the buy to let market, as less people have been able to afford to buy their own property and more are forced to rent.

However, according to Leaders – one of the UK’s largest independently owned letting specialist with branches across the South East – the extent to which house prices have risen in some areas, along with the recent changes to legislation governing lettings, means that it is now more important than ever for investors to seek up-to-date, professional and expert advice before investing in a property to let.

Says Leaders’ managing director, Paul Weller: “With house prices as high as they are in some areas, rental yields on certain types of property may be smaller now than a few years ago. This does not necessarily mean it is not worthwile investing in a buy to let property, but it does re-enforce the necessity to consult an expert who knows and understands your local letting market in order to get the most from your investment.

Leaders believe that this, combined with recent and ongoing changes to letting legislation – in particluar the introduction of the Tenanacy Deposit Protection Scheme – makes seeking expert advice all the more crucial. To help landlords and anyone considering investing in a property to let in the current market, Leaders will be jointly hosting a seminar with Spofforths Chartered Accountants on Thursday 31st May 2007 in Reigate, Surrey.

The seminar, entitled ‘Success in the Buy to Let Property Market’, will be free of charge and is expected to be very well attended. Leaders have been at the forefront of lettings for almost 25 years and are respected for their quality service and expert knowledge in the industry. Spofforths is a leading independent firm of Chartered Accountants which for over 100 years has helped its clients through the changing economic climate by providing outstanding personal service.

The seminar will include talks from various experts from Leaders and Spofforths on the following topics: Residential Lettings – Steps to Success; The Tenancy Deposit Protection Scheme – What You Need to Know; Buying to Let versus Investing in Pensions; Portfolio Performance; and Tax Issues for Landlords. The presentations will be followed by drinks and canapés, when attendees will have the opportunity to talk to the experts face-to-face and ask them questions.

Leaders and Spofforths have co-hosted a number of similar events in previous years which were attended by hundreds of investors. Says Leaders’ area director for East Surrey, Allison Thompson, who will be speaking at the event: “Our previous seminars have been very successful with an overwhelmingly positive response from the investors who attended. Many of them commented on how helpful it was to have all the experts under one roof and were impressed with the quality of the information and the straightforward way in which it was presented.

This event will be of interest not only to prospective investors, but to seasoned landlords interested in expanding their portfolios. If you would like to attend please email to book a place.
