Barbon Insurance Group has announced that Mike Ramsey, Chief Executive, is to leave the Group following the sale of the Property & Commercial division to Arthur J Gallagher earlier this month.

Ian Sutherland, currently Group Financial Director, will become Acting Chief Executive with effect from 1 June 2013.

Jamie Smith, Barbon Group Chairman, said:

“Mike was recruited to deliver the sale of the Property & Commercial division and we thank him for the significant role he has played in achieving this goal.”

“Ian will lead Barbon into the next stage of its development by strengthening our market leading position in a growing rental marketplace.”

An experienced CEO and strategist, Mike Ramsey joined Barbon in 2012, having held CEO and senior executive roles with Cigna, American Express, Aegon and AXA.

Mike Ramsey said:

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Barbon, we have achieved a great deal. I believe the business is now in a substantially stronger position and I wish it well as it moves into a new phase of its development.”
