A city lettings agency and the University of Worcester’s Student Union have entered into a new partnership which will make it easier for students and landlords to access professional property advice.

Property management specialist Premier Places has become an Official Partner of the university’s Student Union in a deal which will see the firm holding property advice sessions, regular awareness campaigns and opening a ‘pop up shop’ within the Union at the St John’s Campus.

The link-up comes as the agency launches its Student Places brand – a new venture, which as Worcester’s only dedicated student property service, will focus on providing landlords and students with tailor-made property guidance, special offers and rental advice.

It comes as Worcester sees over 11,000 students come into, and return, to the city as the new university year kicks off.

Dani James, chief executive of Premier Places, said: “Every year Worcester is growing as a university city and in turn that’s seeing a steady increase in the number of students looking to make the city their home.

“These are young people, away from home for the first time and in a city where things are unfamiliar.

“Many students often find that quite daunting along with finding a good landlord and a safe and suitable place to live. Through Student Places our new link up aims to change that and take our expertise directly to students and provide an expert service for landlords specialising in student properties.

“Becoming an Official Partner means we can be on hand to give advice to students and their parents on a whole range of issues – from selecting the right rental property to finding the best area in Worcester that suits their lifestyle. It’s also about matching them with reliable landlords.

“We met thousands of students at the recent Fresher’s Fair which was great fun. We chatted to many who loved the idea that property advice has suddenly become more accessible.”

Philip Roberts from the University of Worcester, added: “Both our new and existing students want to enjoy exploring the city and student life in general. One of our objectives at Worcester Students’ Union is to make that experience easier for students and working with the team at Premier Places will make their property searches and access to specialist advice far simpler.

“The partnership adds another dimension to the property advice we can deliver for many of our 11,000 students who rely on that service. The feedback so far has been exceptional.”

Miss James, who was appointed chief executive of Premier Places this summer, added that the new Student Places initiative will also see the lettings agency
engaging with landlords and students through social media channels and special events.
