Grainger plc (the “Group”), the UK’s largest listed residential property owner and manager, has appointed Kier to deliver repairs and maintenance work across its UK portfolio. The contract, which is worth around £50m over ten years, is due to start on 1 September 2013. The work will see Kier carry out repairs to tenants’ properties along with gas and electrical compliance works across England and Scotland.
Grainger’s decision to appoint a single provider was taken in order to improve tenant service delivery and maximise efficiencies to obtain cost savings that were not being achieved through Grainger’s previous network of multiple suppliers and service providers.
David Mawson, Regional Managing Director at Kier Group plc, said: “We are delighted to be delivering this work for Grainger, which further establishes Kier’s position as the market leader for repairs and maintenance in housing. The contract was secured after a detailed professional dialogue and procurement process hosted by both Echelon Consultancy ltd and Eversheds LLP, which allowed a bespoke solution to be submitted. I am looking forward to working closely with Grainger to ensure we deliver not only a top quality job but also a high level of customer service.”
Peter Couch, Chief Operating Officer of Grainger plc, commented: “As part of our ongoing effort to deliver high quality customer service to our tenants and drive efficiencies within our business, I am pleased to announce this new partnership with Kier for a long term repairs and maintenance contract. This contract will help us ensure work is done to a high standard in a timely manner for our tenants, whilst delivering a significant cost reduction for Grainger.”
