A Housing association, Your Housing Group, has launched its first venture into the PRS with its Hive private rental scheme, a new development arm for private rented sector homes, and has started on a Church Street, Warrington build with its first scheme.

Hive is one of the first private rented sector (PRS) developers in the UK to offer family homes on this scale.

The £12m development will consist of 106 family homes near Warrington town centre and is being built in partnership with Countryside Properties

Church Street is just a 10 minute walk from Warrington town centre where work has already started on site and the first properties will be completed this autumn.

This is believed to be the first PRS developer in the North of England to offer residents access to a 24 hour response team, seven days a week for emergency repairs, Hive will have a dedicated handyman on site and provide additional services including gardening, cleaning and ironing.

Hive with its headquarters in Birchwood is introducing a new style of renting, designed to make life easier for tenants. The company’s focus will be on delivering a unique customer experience for its tenants using tailor-made technology.

Managing director of Hive, Stephen Haigh, has said:

“Our Church Street scheme in Warrington is just the start. We are committed to building 600 rented homes a year for the next three years. We are building a brand that we believe residents will buy into and become loyal, long term tenants.

“Your Housing Group has had the ambition to enter the private rented sector for some time and we’re now in a position to fulfil this vision. While Hive is an independent, commercially focused brand, we have all the expertise of a social landlord and this gives us an enviable position in the rapidly expanding marketplace.“

The scheme will consist of 24 two bedroom and 24 three-bedroom houses along with 58 two bedroom apartments.
