Following the recent ruling by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) that all letting agents must now include compulsory fees and charges in the price quoted in advertisements, leading property industry software provider, VTUK, were quick to react and updated their Gemini software to include a ‘Let Fees’ function that would allow the fees to be appended in correlation to the property description.
VTUK has also created a custom report on its system that provides all-important information to private tenants in Scotland. The ‘Tenant Information Pack’ is a new offering that’s open to all of VTUK’s agencies in Scotland, and comes as a result of new legislation that came into force on 1st May.
Peter Grant, VTUK’s Chief Executive, comments: “The news has been awash with recent reports that letting agents are being targeted by protesters because they’re not being transparent enough with their fees. It’s important that we set the industry standard and stay ahead of the curve, which is why we were the first property software company to update our agency software in light of these changes.
“The recent change in Scottish legislation means that tenants must now be provided with a Tenant Information Pack for all assured and short assured tenancies. It’s vital that our landlord clients stay up to date with all changes in legislation, which is why we acted quickly to ensure all of our software was updated accordingly ahead of implementation.”
