The Property Ombudsman (TPO) scheme is delighted to announce that tickets are now on sale for its 2016 Conference “Raising Standards”, taking place on Wednesday 12th October at The National Conference Centre in Solihull.
The 2016 Conference programme is also available to download, outlining the day’s events, which have been broken down into morning and afternoon sessions, comprising extended workshops, guest speakers and a live panel discussion.
Commenting on the forthcoming Conference, Gerry Fitzjohn, Chairman of TPO, says: “After TPO’s 2015 Conference we said that the next one would be bigger and better but with the same simple aim, to help raise standards and improve customer service in the property industry. This year’s event incorporates many of the same elements, but we have made some fundamental changes to the format, which we feel will create an even stronger educational event for all delegates.”
Back by popular demand, the interactive sales and lettings workshops have been extended, where delegates can ‘Be the Ombudsman’. The session will include real-life examples of consumer complaints, led by Katrine Sporle, the Property Ombudsman, and Jane Erskine, TPO’s Casework Director.
A new feature this year will be a ‘Panel of Experts’ where a live discussion will take place with Tim Wakelin facilitating. The panel will comprise Kate Faulkner (Property Expert), Mark Hayward (Managing Director, National Association of Estate Agents), James Munro (Team Leader, National Trading Standards Estate Agency Team), Leon Livermore (Chief Executive, Trading Standards Institute) and Eric Walker (Managing Director, Northwood).
In addition, TPO can confirm that Tony Anderson, former Marketing Director of Easyjet, will be a guest speaker in a special session for agents and property professionals, which will focus on Distinctive Marketing.
Registration will take place at 9am on the day and the Property Ombudsman, Katrine Sporle, will end the afternoon session at around 4pm.
The theme for this year’s Conference is Raising Standards, which reinforces TPO’s commitment to sharing best practice and ensuring member agents adhere to the highest service standards possible. TPO’s Sales and Lettings Codes are a good example of the scheme’s work to raise standards in the industry, which are the first and only property Codes of their kind to be approved by the Chartered Institute of Trading Standards (CTSI). The Codes are followed by more than 34,000 offices and have been independently accredited by the Consumer Codes Approval scheme, which means every agent registered with TPO is required to provide additional consumer protection that goes beyond that required by law.
Last year’s event attracted nearly 400 professional delegates, along with many exhibitors from across the industry. TPO supports professional development and delegates can claim 4 hours CPD by attending this year’s Conference. To book your tickets, please visit the TPO website: www.tpos.co.uk.
