A charity golf day at Belvoir Northwich and Congleton has raised a fantastic £2,515.42 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Proprietors Ann and Steve Whalley who last year won the title of Belvoir Charity Champion of the year are delighted with the success of the event.

“Teams of four golfers, who included other Belvoir franchise owners and a landlord team played an AM-AM better ball Stableford competition over 18 holes at Vale Royal Abbey Golf Club,” says Ann, who is also a keen golfer. “Afterwards everyone enjoyed a magnificent two-course lunch and we held a raffle and an auction, with prizes donated by Prism IT and Franklyn Financial Management Ltd, which was our main sponsor.”

“This is the third charity golf day that Belvoir Northwich and Congleton has hosted and it is definitely one of the highlights of our year, with staff at both of our offices getting fully involved. Macmillan is an amazing charity and particularly close to our hearts as Steve’s mum passed away recently and needed to be in a hospice so we are delighted to be able to give something back that will help to benefit other people in the future.”

Macmillan Cancer Support has been Belvoir’s nominated charity for the past two years, with franchise owners from across the UK’s 150-strong network helping to raise funds. At the company’s Annual Award ceremony in February 2012 a cheque for  £25,013.67 was presented to Macmillan -the total raised by Belvoir since the launch of the campaign.

“Ann and Steve, as well as the rest of their team at Belvoir Northwich and Congleton did a fantastic job raising so much money for Macmillan, which is our chosen charity,” says Belvoir CEO Dorian Gonsalves. “They put a lot of hard work and effort into organising this charity golf day and I congratulate everyone that helped to make the day such a success.”
