    Default CESP Insulation upgrade (!)

    I'm in receipt of a letter from a local Housing association stating (!!) that they have "secured CESP funding for insulation upgrades within the area I have houses..." and that "private owners can access this funding... at no cost to themselves".. (NB Scotland btw..). Seems to be sticking insulation panels on the outside of terrace buildings, then re-rendering over the top. This particular LHA does seem to do reasonable building works judging from what the neighbours tell me & mine own eyes see-eth..

    Sounds too good to be true, but I'm off (1,000mile+ round trip) next week to an open day to find out more...

    Anyone know if this is for real??

    Property(s) are in an area of deprivation - I checked the table...oddly I've always got surprisingly (to me..) good rental rates &, with careful referencing, (usually..) good tenants.

    If true I would like to thank all tax-paying viewers for kindly giving me this hoped-for bung...

    I hope that's an organic, carbon-neutral, fairtrade, responsibly sourced round trip.
    There is always scope for misinterpretation.

    If it's run by a similar outfit to warmfront, expect insulation to be
    the cheapest, the thinest, and and the rendering to fall off, which
    the tenants / landlords / owners will have to fix.

    £100 company less than 2 years old already mortgaging it's invoices. Not convinced yet....

    Praise indeed, am honoured.

    But the phrase "already mortgaging it's invoices" tells me all I need
    to know.
    I have seen too many complaints about firms doing grant work, even
    the government have stopped grants to stop one firm stealing the
    money.

    Small pic from tenant: Previously the houses were pebble-dashed/rough-cast with grey-streaky mouldy 'orrible stuff & on one house the rough-cast was coming off. Now a lot better, indeed the whole estate looks spruced up.




    Small update: After MONTHS & bleedin' MONTHS of delays & no communication from builders I now have 2 of my 3 houses pretty much finished... Occupants (my tenants and others I've spoken to..) see to have noticed significant difference in warmth (we are talking Scottish Highlands winters..) and the appearance of the properties has been markedly improved...

    Many thanks to all taxpayers for funding this..

    Presumably, although (alledgedly..) it's got anti-fungal in it to stop green/grey growths... We will see,..

    The good news is that some 200+ properties, mainly housing assoc & council, have/are being done so if there are "issues" hopefully the heavier boots of the HA & council will get things sorted..

    Next step, work out if I can get one house double-glazed replacing tatty wooden single-glazed under ECO..

    Think I'll need someone on very low income for that...
