    Default Landlords change of address

    Hi

I have recently changed my address, can I ask the tenant to sign a new contract with updated corresponding address of the landlord? If so can he refuse to sign the contract as only the corresponding address will be updated and all the clause will still remain the same?

    Many thanks

    • Your change of address does not invalidate the contract or change any of the terms.
    • You do not need to sign a new contract.
    • You cannot force a T to sign a new contract.
    • If the address for serving notices (which is usually given in the tenancy contract, and may be an agent's address etc) has changed, serve a notice on the T under s.48 Landlord and Tenant Act 1987 advising him of the new address. http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1987/31/section/48
    • If you just want to inform T that your contact details have changed, then send him a letter with the details.
