The rent officer has calculated the new fair rent to be £480 per month. the previous fair rent set on our property was just £89 per month. This seems like a big jump from the previus set fair rent, and looking at the index thing and the 12.5% thing we think maybe the rent officer has calculated it all wrong. we spoke to a solicitor who said he *thinks* based on the retail price index our rent should now only be approx £103 per month.
l telephoned the rent officer and explained all this to him but, he wasnt very helpful, just saying we must appeal the fair rent if we think its incorrectly calculated.
all we want to know is what the correct level our rent should be set to now, it seems nobody seems to know exactly.
