Have inherited a property in Wales. The house on the property has collapsed, council fenced around for safety reasons and the occupier was forced to vacate. The council are checking on either a demolition order or a prohibition notice.
Council have advised that the land is in the green belt. My questions are:
1/ What do demolition orders and prohibition notices mean?
2/ Will there be any problem with rebuilding on the land in the future given the land is in a green belt?

My first time on this forum and would appreciate any information on the above.
Regards,
Bilo

I suggest a chat with relevant person at Council. They're pretty helpful.

Green belt policy is very strict and you may well be lucky to get a replacement house... they will probably not allow you a bigger one...

The vital thing is that you do not loose the benefit the of the existing house. If it is taken away then the Council could say that the residential use of the site is abandoned and not allow you a replacement....

Tread carefully... it may be that a planning app for a new house would be a good thing...ASAP!!!

Where is the house???

Why not offer to help the Council?
They might agree that both Orders are unnecessary if you agree to demolish; and you could agree to do that in exchange for them granting a new Planning Permission.
