Tenant has reported a unknown Car parked on the driveway!
I called the council, who told me, as it’s taxed and on private land they can’t do anything and I should contact the police. So I went along to my local police station who told me the exact same thing and I should go back to the council!!! :(
What can I do? (Legally)
Many Thanks

Is this a house's driveway (in your ownership) or common parts/access for block of flats?

try and push it on the road - then its the councils responsibility!
seriously though - it all depends on how long its been there? it might be someone visiting etc

Yes in my Ownership.
It's a 51 reg polo and alarmed...Police did a check to see if it's reported stolen but came back negative.
Asked neighbours but they don't know anything about it, but confirmed it's been there over 5/6 days.
Is it possible to find out about the owner's address from the DVLA? As the police won't reveal to me, who the registered keeper is (But have told me, they are local).

Why not stick a BIG sign on it saying FOR SALE!!! ALL OFFERS ACCEPTED!!
that should get their attention!!!

It might be worth contacting the local private clamping firm who might be prepared to clamp the vehicle for you and extract a large release fee, paying you a commission.
We live close to a railway station that makes the local international airport a short ride away. We often get clever dicks parking outside our house for a week or fortnight while they go on their hols which is extremely inconvenient. Recently one parked there who wasn't displaying a tax disc and after the vehicle had not been collected for a day or two, we advised the local council who soon whisked it away.
Ten days later we enjoyed the scene of a family of four, laden with suitcases, Spanish suntans and hats standing around my wife's car wondering where their rusty Marina had disappeared to! They could have parked for free in the station car park!

What would happen if you suspected that there was a bomb in the boot. Surely the police would come round and investigate then?
Alternatively, is the house near an airport. Maybe they have parked and scarpered for a couple of weeks!

DVLA will supply the name and address of the owner for a fee £2.50 i think. Regards Peter
not necessarily the owner but the registered keeper, have you thought it might be a hire car that has been abandoned?

use a service like parkforce that should discourage them in the future.

I suppose the best option would be to slap a notice on the car, suggesting that if it is not moved in so many days, then it will be towed away / crushed / given to teenagers for boy racing / donated to the local firestation for cutting practice; etc.

Put a bright yellow notice on the car stating that it has been abandoned and will be towed away. Within very little time the local youths will come and trash it. Serves the owner right!
Otherwise, there's not a lot you can do...

Please do not make false reports to the police.
Apply for the logbook and sell it.

Yes in my Ownership.
Anyway, why not let T sort it out? You neither created the problem nor contributed to it; T is competent to do all the running-around suggested by other replies.
