Im sure this question may have been asked before but here goes.

Ok Im looking to get my foot in the rental market i cant decide what my best option may be so heres a brief description of my situation.

1. I have approx 50,000 to invest

2. Typical 2 bed terr is 75- 80000 in my area

3. Idealy i would be looking to buy for myself as well

4 Im not looking to get rich quick but i would consider any suggestions, is a large 3 bed terr an option renting out the two other rooms and one for myself? or investing in buy to let say two flats? what would you do if you had money to invest. Any ideas?

Cheers :D

I would be thinking that UK property market is going nowhere for a while, rents are not attractive in any case. I would prefer commercial shop or abroad.

First thing to do is talk to letting agents in your area, find out what they are looking for, the rental return and likelyhood of keeping the property occupied. BTL is not usually a get rich quick investment but long term (10 years plus) it is likely to double the return available from normal savings schemes.
