The number of Spanish property sales in the first quarter of this year fell compared to the same period last year according to figures taken from the Land Register. Over the last 12 months there have been 893,000 houses or flats purchased which mean that house sales have fallen 11.5% in just one year.

The drop in house sales has been more acute for new properties and has fallen almost 16% while sales of used housing have fallen by only 8%. These figures confirm the slow down in the property market.

In the first quarter of 2007 232,000 houses or flats were purchased according to the Land Register. However, this figure is almost 23,000 less compared to the same period last year which works out at 9% less.

Figures vary according to different parts of Spain. Over the last 12 months house sales dropped by 20% in Aragón and by 18% in Galicia. In Catalunya there was a drop of 15%, almost 14% in Madrid, 13% in Valencia and 7.5% In Andalucia.
Out of all house sales in Spain for the first quarter of this year 58% were for used housing while 42% was for new housing.

With massive properties drops in Spain, US and Rep of Ireland i think there is going to be a international credit crunch shortly. With the 30% repossession rate increase in the UK banks will be under pressure tighten lending. I think this will lead to some price drops in the UK but I don't think as much as spain due to property availability.

Maybe it is really the right time to buy real estate in Spain now. It seems be crashing recently in Spain. I also want to buy some property abroad as investment. But I always can’t make the decision to buy in witch country. Now I have searched some property in gran canaria property (http://www.laspalmasproperty.com) and granada property (http://www.granadaproperty.org) and I will take them into my account.

I'd wait a few years unless you want negative equity. Buy at the end of the crash as these things based on history don't end that quickly.

The Costa Blanca, on the east coast of Spain, is one of the most beautiful regions of the entire Iberian Peninsula. It enjoys more than 315 sunshine days a year and an average temperature of 18-19C so it is fit to live there. costa blanca property (http://www.costablancapropertyspain.com) and costa brava property (http://www.costabravaproperty.org) to choose a property real estate in Spain for you.

True- it's just too much toil and trouble!

Plus where can you nowadays buy:
a. eye of newt;
b. toe of frog;
c. wool of bat; or
d. tongue of dog?

Try Tesco?

You don't need to buy the above. Just become a minor has-been celebrity and you get it served up free of charge by Ant and Dec in the jungle!

1. It's easier to get rid of ants than Ant.
2. Who needs Dec? It's still Nov.

In the center of the historical town of Binissalem this 130year old townhouse has been completely reformed in 2006 to the highest standard. Just traditional materials have been used to give this house a unique character. The house is located in a very quite area of the town and just 5 min. away from the market place and train station. If you are looking for a pleasant and tranquile place to spend your holidays or more, this is the perfect house for you. Due to the real estate agent, spanish property (http://www.propertiescostablanca.org) and investment property spain (http://www.buypropertyspain.info) .

I wonder where the expression "Castles in Spain" originated, anyway?
Castilla? or a complex hispanic chess manoeuvre?

Other castles:
Barbara
Bouncy
Howard
Roy
Sand

I think it is a term to mock those eccentrics who go to spain to build a villa slightly larger in size than their 2-up and 2-down semi.

Next year will be the bi-centenary year of Wellington's greatest victory against Napoleon's forces at Salamanca in Western Spain.

Just wondered if "Beef Wellington" was originally a load of old spanish bull ?

Go ahead my son, buy yourself a nice little 'rustica' or 'finca'. Oh by the way, have you heard of the LRAU rule, it's still alive and kicking at the moment. Now there's a bad joke if ever I heard one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the other hand Spain is generally welcoming to us, always providing you do not bring the little englander mentality with you.

Before you think about Starting a New Life in Spain or Investment property spain (http://www.buypropertyspain.info/), make sure you check the areas around together with friends or local property agents. Make sure you have already spent some time not just in summer around Spain for example Tenerife, so you know the place from both sides of the coin during summer and during winter time.
Some practical spanish property (http://www.propertiescostablanca.org/) buyer tips The Costa del Sol is continuously evolving and its development over recent years has been focused on the health and luxury markets and the joy of spending time on the Costa Del Sol has a lot to do with the fact it is hot six months of the year and warm the other six. It is not surprising people still flock here from all corners of the globe, each year hundreds of thousands of tourists come here to enjoy the multitude of benefits that the Costa del Sol already has to offer and make it their second home.

Which is a very good reason to stay well away from it.

...have your head's contents examined...

...Wow, I'd never have thought of that.

The Costa del Sol is continuously evolving
Nah, evolution is largely discredited, and- in any event- its supposed application was limited to humans/animals/vegetation but not areas of land.

And bulgrealestate's question was...?
