iam due to rent out my excouncil flat in a few months after building work is finished,i have heard rumors arround the area that my flat may be demolished in a year or so,what will happen ie will i get compensation? will i get loss of rent? will i get the cost of a similar flat in the same area? the flat is one in block of 6 flats,

I would imagine it will be a compulsory purchase order....you will get the value of your property, basically. But dont accept their first offer, or even neccessarily their second. You could well, as often happens in these situations, get more than market value.

Well if you live in the property you usually get more than if you rent it out, might be worth staying in it. If you live in it now and don't want to anymore, it might be better for you to contact the council now and see if they will buy it back now, as it is significantly more you get as a owner occupier.
you shoudl get the full value of the property as a landlord which you should if sensible splah out on your own valuation to contest the value they state.
