Tenant Declaring Severe Hardship In Court

Hello,
We have a situation where a tenant is three months in arrears with rent and the court hearing is Thursday. We believe the tenant has refered to the Local Authority Housing Advice Centre and has since signed off work with health problems and is going to request to the court a 42 day extension due to severe hardship.
Can anyone throw some light on the legal position?
All help and advice would be very much appreciated.

If hearing is based on s.21 Notice, or on ground 8 in s.8 Notice, Court has to give immediate possession Order and cannot delay/defer/suspend/extend. Hardship is sad but T's circumstances don't affect your legal right to possession.
