I have a couple of queries.

1. Is it ok to pass the cost of the reference and credit check on to the prospective tenant.

2. Can a family member of the landlord be a witness to the tenancy agreement

1. Is it ok to pass the cost of the reference and credit check on to the prospective tenant.Yes, it's up to you: some landlords don't, others do; some pass on part of the cost and others inflate it.


2. Can a family member of the landlord be a witness to the tenancy agreementFor a normal Assured Shorthold Tenancy agreement, no witnesses are needed at all (although like some others here I still ask tenants to get their signatures witnessed, just to add some gravitas and reinforce that they are signing a formal legal contract.
