Complaint from Neighbours

Hi,
I was wanting to get the opinion from others on this.

I have a tenant who has been living in in the house for about 6 months.
A neighbour contacted me complaining about noise and parties from the tenant. They stated this has been going on for sometime.

Where does a landlords responsibilities fall in this area.
I do not want to jump in and make things worse.

I would value your opinion.

If your neighbour has mentioned the problem to your tenant without securing an improvement in the situation the next stage would be for your neighbour to contact the local Environmental Health Office. They will advise on the way to collect evidence concerning the alleged nuisance by your tenant and the Council will take action if they find there is a problem.

You are in no position to judge the merits or otherwise of the allegations by the neighbour and unfounded complaints could affect your relationship with the tenant.
