View Full Version : Monoblock Sink Tap
Does anyone know how you are supposed to install these?
If I screw in the water pipes before fitting to the sink it is very difficult to fasten the nuts underneath. If I don't screw in the water pipes before fitting to the sink, I worry that I won't be able to find the holes when I do fit the water pipes.

To tighten the nuts securing the tap the job is easy is you have a long 'box spanner'
Are the pipes the flexi braided hose type or 10mm copper?
If they are copper I usually fit the pipes to the tap first leaving the tails below bowl level then connect to them using push fittings.
If the flexi hose type then fit the pipes to the tap first but connect a length of 'plastic' pipe to the ends of the hose so you can make the connection somewhere you can get to. I would use pushfit connectors as you can make the connections without needing spanners or blowtorches. I have been using them for 10 years and so far haven't had one leak yet.
Thanks Grouse,
They are flexi hoses, and I think I have sussed out how to connect them.
The problem is that it is a tri-flow tap. (It has three hoses) and the braided pipes are jammed up tight against the nuts. I think I would be lucky to get a piece of paper between, never mind a box spanner.
Okay folks, I have managed to do this by bending the pipes away from the nuts while I tightened them with a 12mm box spanner from my car tools. It was very difficult but it is now done.
Thanks Grouse and anyone else who read and tried to think of a way to help.

Glad to hear you got it sorted. What does the 3rd hose connect to? It's been puzzling me all day....
Hot-Cold-Couldn't think of a 3rd choice
I bought it for hard drinking water. (I have a softener.) The tap is actually marketed for use with an inline water filter.

I understand now, our water is getting harder each day as the percentage of water from boreholes increases in comparison to water from the resevoir. I may have to look into using filters sometime. Thanks for the info

Loving the phrase "hard drinking water".
That is probably what they have in the House of Commons to go with their subsidised llunches for friends, mistresses, mister-esses, and cronies.
