Tenancy expiry - bills

Hi

My one month notice ends this Dec 29. I would however like to vacate by 18th December.

I understand that i will still have to pay the rent upto 29 Dec. But am i also liable for all the gas, electricity and council tax bills which are all under my name?

I would appreciate some guidance. The agent says i am still responsible.

Recent Council tax hearing found you would be liable. Gas & leccy I'd suggest if the contract continues to 29th I'd as tenant want to ensure there was some background heating & lighting to stave off frozen pipes (££££££!!! you wanna avoid that one..) or burglars.....

In agents shoes (but I'm not an agent) I'd prefer not to have to do checkout etc 29th December etc etc.. but, hey, free country..

Give your final Gas and Electric meter readings the the utility's companies yourself,don't rely on the landlord or Agent to do it...
