Fire Alarm check

Hi all,

I want to test the fire alarm at some properties where the tenants reside. I was thinking of calling them to make them aware and giving them a letter. Also want to inspect the property at this time. I am aware I will have to gain their permission in order to inspect their rooms but what about the fire alarm. Do I have to get their permission to conduct a test or merely give them notice that I will be conducting a test?

I would say that testing the fire alarm was part of an inspection, why make a separate issue of it?

So if one tenant does not give permission to check the fire alarm system then we cannot do so?
For example, if a tenant says no to a gas service inspector entering are these rights the same for refusing a fire alarm check?
