I have a prospective tenant who is interested in my property but is waiting for the sale of his flat to complete before he signs for mine. He's happy to put down a retainer, but how much is fair & for how long? Rent is £485 pcm. £100 for 2 weeks?

he can't have exchanged else he'd be happy to sign for mine, can't remember the house buying process as it;';s been a while, but it's the final signature that commits the buyer to buying
