This is not a question but a warning that I found on torents.co.uk

Advertisers should be aware that fraudsters are scanning property adverts on the Internet and offering above the asking price as an incentive to con Landlords into cashing cheques.

Contact is made by the fraudsters stating that they want to rent the property for a period of 6 month and wish to pay in advance and offering to send a cheque or get their business partner or creditors to send a cheque for more than the total rent. They then ask that the cheque be cashed and the rest of the money be paid into an account for their use while staying in the UK. Variations are that the balance of the money should be paid by money transfer usually to an account in another country.

The cheque sent in the post to cover the cost of the rent is likely to be stolen or a forgery but may well be CLEARED BY YOUR BANK INITIALLY. Some time later when it is revealed that the cheque is not genuine, payment will be stopped and you loose any monies sent to the fraudster.
