Deposit to take the property off the market.

An agent rang me to say that someone had put an offer (rental) on my property and I had verbally accepted. Later on another agent from a different agency informed me that they would show the flat to somone tomorrow so I mentioned about the offer that I had unofficially accepted but I didn't mind if she'd like to show the flat to another person. In the evening, the first agent rang me again and told me that the prospect tenant had put down their 2 weeks deposit to take the property off the market and she'd fax me the rental agreement asap.
The question is:

Is it still okay for me to let another agencies continue showing the flat? And what if another viewer offers a higher rent than the first tenant, could I turn down the first offer? Is it illegal?
