A word of caution with web based brokers unless you realy know who they are be careful. you could try Delite insurance on 02083162341

The RLA Insurance scheme is done by rentguard, who are ok, they are underwritten ultimatley by axa and i think axa-priamry.

if you want 'rentrguard' insurance it is available cheaper from landlord insurance direct and you don't have to pay any rla membership fees!

on the plus side it covers just about anyone (very minimal criteria) at very good rates and has no postcode rating so the rate is the same every where, especially cheap if you insure property in london or other big cities. it also includes terrorism cover.

on the minus side it does not cover for accidental or malicous damage by tenants and i have heard that the claims handling process is a bit poor

landlord insurance direct have a better scheme which i now use from norwich union, you have to have 'referenced' tenants, but it does give you better cover at about the same price as the rentguard scheme.

you can contact Landlord Insurance Direct on 0800 088 7680

hope that helps.

You will find that the insurance schemes run by all the main landlord associations such as RLA, NFRL and NLA are good tried and tested schemes and usually offered at a discount to their landlord members.
We think that the insurance advertisers on LandlordZONE offer equally good schemes - particulalry those companies who have been with us for 5 or 6 years now, offering tried and tested landlord insurance schemes which you can totally rely on. It's all about service and reputation and we are very careful to promote only those companies that measure up.

I agree that a little caution should be exercised when dealing with internet based brokers and insurers. However, it is now one the main areas for consumers to get their information and products, usually at a more competitive price or premium than those found locally.

I use Rent Guard they may not be the cheapest but you do get very comprehensive cover, and if purchased through the RLA you do receive a discount.
