can a LL charge you for light bulbs even if not mentioned on an inventory????
It seems my LL wants money for everything at the moment!

If working lightbulbs are not mentioned on the incoming inventory, then you do not have to pay for them when you depart.

Small question, why would you not want to replace blown lightbulbs?

no its not that I don't wish to pay fior them I have moved out and am taking LL to court. 1 halogen light bulb was missing when I moved in, not on inventory, never needed to put 1 in, and LL now asking for money for that one and 5 other that were still there working!!!! Ho then hell do I prove this in court!!! I am sorry but my LL gives LL's a very bad name!
I had rented previously for 15 years without coming across anyone like this LL.

Are we talking the £1.50 variety from Asdas or something more specalists? I know you are arguing the principle of the thing but is it worth the effort over £10?

What mickey failed to mentioned in the original post was that he has already moved out.

And that changes the price he should offer?

21-09-2006, 10:37 AM
Hi, sorry but I think it is worth the effort, my LL wants 6.50 for the halogen and 4.99 each for the others!! they are only 40 watt bulbs, but its just another thing on a huge list of claims LL has, including 96, yes 96 hours of cleaning, for a small unfurnished 3 bed house!!!

When you say £4.99 each....are they bog standard run of the mill light bulbs??? Just normal tungsten filament 30p-each-from-Tesco light bulbs?

21-09-2006, 11:03 AM
The light bulbs in at the time of my tenancy were bog standard, LL want to charge me for energy efficient ones which he claims were there

 your landlord is taking the mickey(no pun intended) and small claims should see right through him. £30 for some light bulbs is a joke and I would be fighting tooth and nail with him as well.

With reference to both your threads mickey....was the inventory signed by yourself upon moving into the property?

Hi, Mr Shed, No the inventory has my handwritten amendments on and is then photocopied, unsigned by either party and LL has the same inventory, Like I said he has this inventory but is still claiming for stuff that is clearly marked as in poor condition etc.! I can't wait for it all to be over, I am so annoyed he can better his property at my expence.
