Hello Friends

You guys were legends when I last had a problem in 2005. THANK YOU !!

I've been having issues again with my ARLA registed agent.. who has since literallly closed their doors one day and dumped all of their files in their sister office down the road... The sister office then left said boxes of files alone as they had quite enough to do thank you.. so, it wasn't until we called from Australia to find out what was being done about finding a new tenant when our current one moved out that they thought it might be a good idea to retrieve our file...

Now, I can't blame the sister office for being a bit slack, after-all, who's not busy enough without having another office close down and dump all their files on you.. But, I thought you guys would be able to help answer the following Q's.

1) Can I be handed the file they've kept over the past 5 years to check what the heck they've been up to. I suspect inspections haven't been happening as neighbours advise that the gardens haven't been tended to in around 2 years..?

2) Can I have the over-all company up for not proactively advising clients that they were closing down?

3) Finally, do ARLA really have any clout and what's my best way of involving them.. e-mail / letter / phone?

Thanks again guys.. and if you're ever in Sydney, Australia, let me know and I'll send you a couple of freebie tickets to Taronga Zoo - which has the best views of Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House.

All the best

Lucy Downunder :D

I should be seeing the CEO of ARLA, on Wednesday 27 September but suggest you contact them directly at www.arla.co.uk where you will be able to register your complaint. You will also be able to acces their telephone number. The best person to contact there by e-mail is Lesley Hunt - lesley@arla.co.uk
