My wife and I jointly own a property. The property is unencumbered. Please can someone tell me which landregistry form or forms we need to fill in in order to remove one of us from ownership

I suggest you phone the Land Registry direct. When I had dealings with them they were extremely helpful, and as this appears to be a straightforward transaction they'll be able to help you in minutes. So, get it from the horse's mouth, as they say! Website is www.landreg.gov.uk. To find the phone number go to Customer Service, then Contact Us, then find the office you're looking for, or click on http://www.landregistry.gov.uk/regional/areas/.

Thanks. Just spoke to them. Need form AP1, TR1 and a form from inland revenue for SDLT exemption.

Spot on. I did this earlier this year after finding out a solicitor wanted £300:eek: A quick search on The Fool revealed a very helpful post.
Result? Had to complete 3 forms and send a cheque for £50

For later readers' benefit: an applicant in person now (from November 2008) also needs to prove identity/address by using form ID1.
