Hi there, i am in the process of buying a 1 bedroom flat in central london, and want to add an ensuite, and create an 'official' second bedroom within the flat. The flat is held on a long leasehold.

Does anyone know what levels of planning permission i need to apply for:

1. From the freeholder ?
2. From the council ?

...and what the best way to approach them is, so that they should favour the application / request, rather than try to decline it ?

etc ?

With thanks in advance,
B

You don't need any PLANNING permission but you will have to comply with e building regulations and you will have to get consent from the freeholder who will probably see the opportunity to charge you whatever he can get away for the alteration!
