paying wife for decorating

can i pay my wife to decorate my rent house if so how much can i pay her without it causing the tax man concern ?

Yes of course you can utilise your wife. She should in return give you an invoice which would add to her taxable income. What do you think you are trying to achieve?

But any wages you pay to your wife has to be reasonable for the work done. You cannot pay her anything you like because she is your wife. As a guide, you can pay her the amount you would have paid to an unrelated woman living in the next street for doing the same work.

Any money paid to your wife would be her casual taxable earnings, unless she starts a business as a painter and decorator.
