Has anyone else had an email from another Forum?? I opened my inbox this morning to find an email apologising for directness but advising me of another forum.. I took a look.. not by clicking the link and it appears to be in its infantcy! I also have a feeling one of the Pain Smith guys is backing it! .. Not 100% certain as I would need to be a member to see the list!

I am not sure about signing up.. I am very wary of gettin stuff by email!

If you are the person who mailed me can you please put your hand up!

Hasn't come through on my system.

Some ISP's now have anti-spam blocks and that applies to the email address I give out for general use.

In addition I do of course have filters and anti-spam software.

Watch out - confessing in open forum the email got through might get you more junk or worse!!!!

Pippay I will PM it to you! .. Vic If I do get anything else I will be contacting the editor here for the ISP of the person involved and I WILL persue it further!

Pippay.. My PC is protected etc.,. its my work machine and brand new so I have ensured its well protected! Hence the unwillngness to click on the link in the email!

Wickerman... glad I am not alone!

My initial thoughht was that it could come from this or the RLA forum, however that one is quite simplistic and there are no PM or email features there! I think I will be changing my settings on here so that I cannot be emailed from this site!

Useful Tip...

Use something like the www.sneakemail.com system to create 'throwaway' email addresses - I use it to set up (very quickly) a unique address for any forum I register on, and it forwards any incoming email to my 'real' address. So if any spam starts coming in, it's a no-brainer to worl out who the 'guilty' source is!

And no, I haven't had the mysterious Other Forum email...

It's clearly not just random spam then, is it: evidently targeted at landlords somehow!

I have a feeling they have clicked on our names in the posts and sent us an email that way! I have now deactivated that option in my profile so if someone wants to say something to me or send me anything they will have to do so through the Private message feature instead :D

Naughty! obviously being run by a fairly unscupulous person or persons unknown, who have no issues or conscience about spamming. Very professional - not.

I actually didn't like the feel of it anyway - it was messy - and it allowed people to "advertise" within the forum in their posts (in their signatures).

Maybe I didn't get one cos I'm a tenant? :D

I've just checked an old email account of mine which I rarely use, and guess what - I've received the relevant spam in there!

Unfortunately I can't track down where they got that email address from, but I can reassure other Landlordzone members that it is *not* the same address I have registered on Landlordzone - that address remains totally unspammed.

So anybody who thought this site was at fault - either deliberately or accidentally - can think again!

I've just got it in my inbox at work so it's not just targeting members on here and bear in mind I work for a Local Authority.

(BTW the address is publically available - for now, at least! - so I'm not blaming LLZ.)

Anybody else received it? Came from the domain name "capital******uk.com" (I'm not giving them any free publicity here, good or bad)...

Eric, yes I have received 2 emails from them and I am sure I clicked to say no emails from this site! I have a spam filter and have trained it on both emails sent to me as they were from 2 different ppl! Unless they create more email addys to send these out hopefully I will not get mail from this firm again!

I've not received it. Either my filters are vg, or the Others don't have my details. Anyway, what other forum is as good as LandlordZone? (creep).

"answerbank" is occasionally interesting but much more susceptible to vague enquiries lacking a specific question. The "jokes" part of its Phrases and Sayings area is OK!
