My daughter has had a nightmare landlady and after checking with the land registry we find she doesn't own the house so how could she collect the rent and have her name down as the landlady on the tenancy deposit scheme. Daughter is a student and they have been really ripped off.:confused:

There are various possibilities, including these :
1. HMLR shows registration of freeholder, but long lease is still unregistered.
2. HMLR shows registration of freeholder and long-leaseholder but you looked at the wrong registered title.
3. True owner let to apparent L (short lease) who's subletting to your daughter.
