View Full Version : Targeted Leaflet Distribution

I have decided to use leaflets/flyers as part of my marketing. Rather than start at one end of the county and work towards the other end, I am wondering if I could be more focused. My target audience is landlords.
One of the thoughts going through my mind is trying to get hold of data on e.g. socio-economic classifications by postcode and just target those postcodes with let's say...the highest proportions in groups 1-4.
Anyone any thoughts or pointers on how I can make this medium more targeted please?
Thanks in advance

Yes. Most mailing distributors offer targeted services. Ask Royal Mail- not only the biggest but also keeper of a list of accredited firms.

then you need a LL database! Or alternatively do it yourself! Trawl the small ads with offers of houses/rooms to let and reply. Post your ad where people post theirs for accomodation. Contact your chamber of commerce and find out if they have any info on local LLs - I personally think you could pay a lot of money for an out of date and useless database - do the groundwork yourself!

I'm personally not a fan of canvassing - you might be better served by using something like PPC via Google.
Reccomend you get trackable phone number whatever you do to measure effectiveness.

all very well if he is a part of a big organisation with big funds...have done all the above in the past (worked in marketing) but expensive for a one man band - what is leafleting (even targeted) if not canvassing - I say give it a go yourself first...

I am already a member of 3 different chambers and none of them have that sort of information.
In the short-term I will reply to small ads in local publications but continue to carpet bomb the locality with postcards. In the meantime I will follow up on Jeffrey's suggestions to see if I can be more focused going forward.
Many thanks for all the helpful replies.

:confused:As opposed to more focused going backwards? (Or what?)

Which is what, exactly ?

'Unique value proposition' is probably a wordy expression meaning 'chat-up line'.

USP would have done ...but what can it be ?!

No, there's no such thing as USP. Reception of information not gained through the recognized physical senses but sensed with the mind is implausible.

Unless it happens to be a genuine unique selling point.

The all were at some point, a bit like the soap, as Kenny once said.

A curious dilema for some :
Were, Where & Wear
For Kenny it was Wear's/Where's the soap in the bath tub sketch
