hi There.
What my situation is is that I have a leeky gas which has been put down by an e.on gas man as ID (immediately dangerous).
Now,I was suppose to have a 'service check'to make sure everything is safe.
The landlords gas man made an appointment but never shown up. The given time was around noon and I am up early in the morning as have a young child so I didn't miss him.My partner then called him after i told him and booked another appointment which was for a week later on a monday around the same time, but yet again he didn't show up. So after the gas man from e.on showed up to change the meter and announced that it's extremely unsafe, i got in contact with my letting agency who then called the landlords gas man and apperantly, he never booked an appointment with us. not only that ever since we have been living in this property, for over a year, our boiler has cut off numerous of times and he couldn't think what was wrong, only to get another new circuit as the 2nd one never worked,we have had 3 all together. I have call records to the landlords contractor also the date and time..However the letting agency have had to get another contractor as the previous one refuses to do it and she even said his attitude was wrong..However,whether this new contractor shows up is a different matter. Is there anything at all i can do as a tennant as for months we have been feeling ill e.g light headed, miagranes, sickness, dizzyness and a smell of gas now and again, but thought it would have been the fire left on or cooker,as i am in the house all day so i don't notice anything and i think we did tell the previous contractor about the smell of gas but i won't say that for sure.Appoligies for the post being so long,i just need to know if there is anything i can do as the boiler is in my child's room and i'm really not happy with this cock-up.

If you have ANY suspicion that there may be a gas leak please, turn off all appliances and call the gas board immediately and report it.

If there is a problem they will shut the gas supply off and at least you and your child will be safe.

Get yourselves safe then deal with the LL obligations.

Switch off the gas and contact the Environmental Health Officer at your local council as a matter of urgency. He has the power to make your LL have the boiler made safe and ensure it works. Tell the EHO that you can often smell gas, that you do not think the landlord has a gas safety certificate and stress that you think your family is at risk. Request an urgent home visit.

Your LL can be prosecuted for this - if he has not ensured the property is gas safe, it is a criminal offence.
