I have purchased a brand new apartment in a block of aprtments. The monthly maintenance fee covers building insurance for home owners, but do I need landlord's liability insurance on top of this. If so any idea who does this?
Thanks.

Yes, I don't think the response by Paul could be considered as even an attempt to reply to the query posed.

I think that a landlord's liability insurance is to cover against any injuries caused to others on your property due to for example a boiler exploding or a roof caving in or a slippery floor.

However, it would be interesting to hear other members' views on the question posed by the querist as it applies to flats in a block.

Landlord liability insurance is not compulsory in the way that car insurance is compulsory.

I have purchased contents insurance to cover the contents against fire, flood and that sort of risk. The insurers know that the property is tenanted and that is reflected in their policy schedule.
