We are doing some planning & development work for an investor who has quite a big portfolio - this involves going through their holdings and proposing development ideas. I get the impression that many investors just don't have the time to look for development potential and if they do it's only every now and then and thus on an ad hoc basis. Is this correct? Or do many investors actively keep a development side going within their holdings?

I'd welcome news and views on this issue, maybe with some examples of your approach to realising development potential..

Regards,

PETER

We do the same on a regular basis for a few clients, but find that only very large landlords carry out such appraisals routinely. In fact the only client we have who uses us for this frequently is an RSL with a stock of many thousands of units. We probably look at at least one block/site per month for them and look at options of selling, developing or simply carrying on letting.

Others seem to look at development potential on an ad hoc basis if at all.

Yes, that's what I thought... its a pity that more of the smaller investors are clued up to looking into dev potential.. Regards, PETER
