Hi guys, just this day moved into a new property and wanted some advice.

We went through robinsons estate agents and recieved all the paperwork for gas safety.

However today, we moved in, put the fire on and smoke started coming out of the side. The estate agents rang the landlord who told her he was getting the fire checked in a months time to wait untill then. The agent also suggest we just 'not use' the fire.

After deciding this was all unacceptable I demanded someone come out to see the fire. And guess what? It was emitting carbon monoxide as the flue wasn't even connected.

Absolutely speechless since me and my partner had we just gone along with the estate agents and 'landlord' could both no be here now as was confirmed by the corgi guy.

What to do next? Obviously we're going to give them hell in the morning, but what is the point of contracts if things like this slip by?

The property was previously unoccupied for 6 months so i do not believe there was any excuse not to have this checked out.

Thanks in advance.
