I have decided I am not cut out to be a Landlord/Lady;) as I cannot stand deceit.
I had problems with the agents who had been handling the house when I purchased it - tried to charge me for management fees even though I had told them I was going to manage the property and then refused to hand over keys etc!
Managed it myself for 18 months - no problems until the tenant tried to sub let and the prospective tenant had no visible means of support!
Dealt with all that but was persuaded to go with a letting agency again (different one).
They were very quick in getting tenants I will admit but messed up the lease (3 months only until I sorted that out too) charged me for checks that have not materialised (electricity etc altho I insisted on getting the gas check done myself thankfully) I have had to keep on my toes to stop them charging me an arm and a leg for stuff that the tenant was liable for and very quicjly learned to sort out problems myself (would have charged me £75 to get an electrician out to change a bulb!), I am pretty sure the present tenants are sub letting and I am feeling stressed so I AM SELLING UP!
Do I bite the bullet and let them sell the house as I am pretty sure they will sell it quickly to get their money (this goes against the grain) or do I get another agent (who is probably just as dishonest) in which case the letting agent may be difficult.?
What realy annoys me is that these people are supposed to be OUR agents, not making a secret profit etc etc:mad:
